Who is Will Fuller?
Will Fuller is an American professional wide receiver associated with the Houston Texans. He was born on April 16, 1994 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, William Vincent Fuller V. Fuller is the only son among five children born to Will Fuller IV and his wife. He is of white ethnicity and holds US citizenship. At the age of five, he joined the Police Sports Hockey League in Wissinoming and after a while. his coach told his parents that young Fuller was in perfect shape for football.
Fuller attended Roman Catholic High School in Philadelphia where he played the position of a wide receiver for the Fighting Cahillites. In his senior year in 2012, Fuller had an outstanding eight touchdowns and 57 receptions with 932 receiving yards, earning him Philadelphia Catholic League 4A Most Valuable Player honors. He was also ranked the 19th best wide receiver in his class as well as a four-star rookie by Rivals.com. After committing to coach Bill O’Briende Penn State University for his college career in June 2012; Fuller later changed his mind choosing Notre Dame Fight Irish instead. He attributed his turnaround to the high level of studies and a 98% graduation rate of Notre Dame players.
In his freshman year at Notre Dame, Fuller 26.6 yards per catch and 160 receiving yards. The following year, he recorded his breakout season for the Irish with a total of 15 touchdowns and 76 receptions with 1,094 receiving yards. He was awarded an honorable mention by All Sports by Sports Illustrated after his magnificent performance.
In his junior season, Fuller had 14 touchdowns and 62 receptions with 1,258 receiving yards and was named to the All-American Second Team by The Associated Press. His marvelous performance in the junior year gave him room for the 2016 draft, thus forfeiting his senior year at Notre Dame.
Professional career, profile draft and statistics
Being one of the 2016 NFL draft prospects, Will Fuller participated in the 2016 National Football League scouting group; finishing first among receivers with 4.32 for a 40-yard dash. In the 2016 NFL Draft, Fuller was chosen by the Houston Texans as the 21st overall pick in the first round of the draft. He was the second wide receiver to be drafted after Corey Coleman, who was selected by the Cleveland Browns.
Starting his first professional regular season in their game against Chicago Bears in September 2016; Fuller recorded one touchdown and five receptions with 107 receiving yards in the game. In week four of his rookie season, Fuller made franchise history by becoming the first Texan to receive a touchdown and a volley return in a game. He finished his rookie season with two touchdowns and 47 receptions with 635 receiving yards.
During pre-season training in August 2017, WillFuller broke his collarbone, which kept him out for more than two months. Returning to play for the Texans on October 1, 2017, he had two touchdowns and four catches for 35 yards. At the end of the 2017 season, Fuller made a total of ten appearances for the Texans; recording 7 touchdowns, 28 receptions with 423 receiving yards.
Fuller came from a working-class family; he grew up with his four sisters. Her father, Will Fuller IV, is a construction worker, while her mother is an accountant. Her parents worked so hard to be able to give Fuller and her sisters a better life. Growing up was not so rosy for Fuller, who was the only boy among four girls. He was not always given the opportunity to speak and this affected his childhood a lot, including the beginning of his football career. It was hard for him to play football with Philly and the idea of getting him a Catholic high school meant more money from his parents, but then it was a solution.
Additionally, going to Catholic High School in Philadelphia affected Fuller greatly; it helped him maximize his potential. Fuller’s parents have always wished the best for their son and are instrumental in his success. Also, Will Fuller has a girlfriend named Anna Maria Gilbertson; she is a professional soccer player for the Portland Thorns. Like Fuller, Anna finished her college career at the University of Notre Dame. The duo had a good relationship. When Fuller is not on the field, he is with Anna.
