Von Miller bio
Vonnie B’Vsean Miller Jr. was born to Von and Gloria Miller on March 26, 1989 in Dallas, Texas. He was raised alongside a younger brother called Vinsynzie “Vins” Miller. He received his high school education from DeSoto High School in DeSoto, Texas. As a high school athlete in two sports, Miller played with the DeSoto Eagles high school football team and also competed in track and field.
In high school, Von Miller posted 37 forwards, 14 tackles for loss, 7 sacks and 12 quarterbacks. In his senior year, the talented young player recorded 76 tackles, 14 tackles for loss and 6 sacks, earning him the District 8-5A Defensive MVP award. Miller was a 4-star recruit late in his high school career and he eventually chose the Texas A&M Aggies football program at Texas A&M University.
In his freshman season, Miller played in the defensive end position recording 22 tackles (10 solo), 2 sacks, 4 tackles for loss and a forced fumble. In his second season, he played at fullback with 44 tackles (25 solo), a team-high 3.5 sacks, 7.5 tackles for loss, 2 forced fumbles and 3 fumble digs.
Von Miller’s first college football career highlight came in his junior season (2009) during which he adopted a hybrid defensive end/linebacker position. He had a national record 17 sacks and 21 tackles for the loss, the 4th highest in the nation. This outstanding performance earned him a First Team All-American selection, becoming the first Texas A&M Aggie to be named to the Ist All-American in 10 years. Miller was also named a first-team All-Big 12 on defense.
Von Miller broke his previous records as he moved to outside linebacker in his senior year (2010). He recorded 10.5 sacks and 17.5 tackles for the loss, a performance that earned him all 12 first-team honors as well as unanimous Americas first-team honors. He also finished the season as a college linebacker in the country for which he received the coveted Butkus Award. Von Miller graduated from college with a degree in poultry science.
Much like his college career, Von has been highly successful since joining the Denver Broncos in 2011. He was nominated for the Pro-Bowl and was also voted All-Pro in 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017.
