Bio, Wiki, Age

Pete Rose was born Pete Edward Rose on April 14th , 1941 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Harry “Pete” Francis and LaVerne Rose. Harry and LaVerne had 3 other children besides Pete, however, the names of these children remain unknown. Pete has always had a passion for sports, even as a very young boy. His parents noticed this predilection and allowed him to join the Order of DeMolay for their athletic pursuits. This laid the foundation for what would end up being a very successful career in baseball.

Pete Rose attended Western Hills High School, Cincinnati, Ohio. As a student, Pete was very active in sports. He was on his student’s baseball and football team. He was so good at football that despite his height, he was raced to the stable. However, Pete was disheartened after being overlooked when selecting his college football team. It was a very depressing time for him and it began to take its toll on his studies.

Fortunately for Pete, his father stepped in and helped him navigate this difficult time in his life. That year, his father encouraged him to attend a summer baseball camp for teenagers. It helped Pete forget his football troubles and allowed him to channel all of his bottled up indignation into baseball.

He became more invested in baseball in his senior year and with the help of his uncle, Bloebaum, Pete signed his first professional contract with the Cincinnati Reds. It was right after graduating from Western Hills High.

MBL Career

His spectacular performance that season spurred the Cincinnati Reds aka “the big red machine” to win the series. of the 1973 National League Championships. Rose won the National League MVP award for his efforts.

On the 5thin May 1978, Rose would rewrite the record books by becoming the 13th player in MLB history to reach 300 career hits. Pete would go on to set and break more MLB records, hitting remarkable numbers in the process. He recorded an impressive 4,256 hits, making him the all-time leader in MLB. In total, he played 3,562 games, 14,053 counter-tarps, 3,215 singles and 10,328 outs. Pete also had 17 All-Star games, won three batting titles, a Most Valuable Player award and was awarded the National League Rookie Award in his first year as a professional baseball player. During his baseball career, Pete also played for the Philadelphia Phillies (1979-1983) and the Montreal Expos (1984).

Pete Rose returned to the Cincinnati Reds first as player-manager and eventually became manager from 1984-89. The only bane of his stellar career was his despicable act of playing baseball in which he was directly involved as a player and manager. His penalty was permanent baseball ineligibility. Besides baseball, Pete also served his country briefly in the military, appeared in WWE, and became an analyst at Fox Sports.
