On July 15, 1939, actor Patrick John Morrison was born to legendary actor John Wayne and his wife Josephine Saenz as their second son. Patrick later changed his name and took his father’s stage name Wayne instead of Morrison.
After graduating from high school, Wayne went to Loyola Marymount University where he graduated. Although his acting career had already taken off, he enlisted in the Coast Guard as late as 1961.
