Even though Jordy Nelson has said he sees himself as more of a farmer than a footballer, no one will remember him for driving a tractor or herding a herd. However, he will be remembered for being one of the best receivers in the NFL and helping the Green Bay Packers win Super Bowl XLV.

Biography (Age)

Nelson was born Jordy Ray Nelson to Kim and AlanNelson on May 31, 1985 in Manhattan, Kansas. He was raised in Riley, Kansas, where his parents, fourth-generation Swedish immigrants, own and operate a farm that has been in their family since Nelson’s great-great-great-grandfather in America.

As a child, Nelson exhibited extraordinary athletic ability, winning individual and team recognition in track and field, basketball and football. He then attended Riley County High School, where he continued to shine in all three sports, although he set his sights on becoming a professional football player.

After graduating from high school, Jordy Nelson enrolled at Kansas State University where he had the opportunity to play under legendary Wildcats coach Bill Snyder. He began his college football career walking and was initially brought in to play the defensive back position before later playing wide receiver. His freshman year and the start of his second season were things to forget until Nelson could start contributing to his team’s plays, logging a number of remarkable stats.

Fast forward to his senior year when Nelson grew up to be one of the best receivers in the country. By the end of that season, he had recorded 122 catches for 1,606 yards and 11 touchdowns. He was further rewarded with a finalist position for the Biletnikoff Prize and a Consensus of American Honors.

In the 2008 NFL Draft, Jordy Nelson was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the second round with the 36th overall pick and the rest is history.

Injury history and analysis

Jordy Nelson’s battle with injuries began in his back college in 2006. After entering the NFL in 2008, he suffered a medial collateral ligament sprain that kept him out of three games. He recovered quickly and managed to stay injury free for four years, until he started having hamstring and knee issues.

On October 24, 2012, Nelson was ruled out for one game with a thigh and hamstring sprain. A few weeks later, on November 4, 2012, he sprained his right ankle, and then on December 2, 2012, he sprained another femur. All of these injuries resulted in him missing four games and most of the two games he was injured.

In August 2013, Jordy Nelson had arthroscopic surgery for an unspecified knee injury. He then missed pre-season, but fully recovered to compete in Week 1. A year later, in August 2014, Nelson suffered another thigh injury, which allowed him to miss the pre-season. During the 2015 offseason, he underwent surgery for a left hip impingement which healed in time for him to return to training camp. Luck was not on his side, however, when he tore his right anterior cruciate ligament in the second preseason game and was sidelined for the whole season, including pre-season. of the following 2016.

Since this long period of inactivity, his next injuries were a broken chest on January 8, 2017, and a left shoulder injury on December 23, 2017.

Jordy Nelson is married to the love of his life, Emily Nelson (née Rothlisberger), a former college basketball star, now works as a kindergarten teacher at Fort Howard Elementary School in Green Bay.

The couple got married in 2007 after dating for a very long time; since sixth grade to be exact. According to Nelson, the two knew each other all their lives growing up in the same Kansas town and attending the same schools as early as kindergarten. The first time they started seeing each other was in the first year of middle school, but that didn’t last, as they broke up a year later. A few years later, however, Nelson entered his second year of high school and the rest was history.

Together, the couple have two sons. Royal and Brooks. They also have an adopted daughter named Adda Jo.
