Joe Callahan bio
On June 4, 1993, at the courthouse in Cape May, New Jersey, the footballer was born and named Francis Joseph Callahan as a child of Joe Callahan (father) and Judy Callahan (mother). He has for brother and sister; a brother and two sisters, one of whom is called Susan Callahan.
Joe in 2011 was enrolled at Holy Spirit High School in Absecon, New Jersey where he passionately played football and basketball with his school team from the 2008/2009 season through the 2010/2011 season.
He played 4 games in his freshman season at Wesley College (Delaware) where he had 26 yards and 3 assists on 9 attempts. The kid, however, suffered an injury the following season which saw him see no college football action in 2012 before recovering and returning in 2013.
Entering the 2013 season, Joe Callahan played 13 league games and recorded 3,599 yards with 29 touchdowns on 269 of 461 completed attempts. He had an even better performance in 2014 with 4,190 yards, scoring 46 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, which became the best record of any Wesley quarterback at the time. Joe surpassed his previous record in his senior season in college with 5,063 yards and 55 touchdowns, helping his team advance to the D-III playoffs. He became the first D-III player to throw for 5,000 yards in a season and in recognition of his many contributions to his team’s success, Joe Callahan was awarded the Gagliardi Trophy; an equivalent of the Heisman in Division III.
In the 2016 NFL Draft, the kid with a lot of football juice in him, however, was not selected by any NFL team. As you probably know, NFL scouts don’t typically attend Wesley College in Dover, Delaware to check out their talents.
Nonetheless, he received an invitation from scout Mike Owen to meet him at Monmouth Pro Day on March 9, 2016, an opportunity he skipped as he had yet to hear of any NFL team/scout. After the Monmouth players had their pro day, Joe had an impromptu pro day before Owen and other scouts still present.
In doing so, little did he know that his Wesley Offensive Coordinator, Chip Knapp had pasted tapes of his performance/ability on the field and sent it to the Green Bay Packers who had been impressed with the quality/power and style of his throws. The Packers scout was also impressed with what he saw and it was for this reason that he signed him as an untraded free agent on May 6, 2016.
Joe Callahan impressed in the pre-season with his new team was released on October 13 as the New Orleans Saints took him on October 14, before they let him go until October 22. The Cleveland Browns took him two days later.
The Green Bay Packers returned for him on December 2, 2016, after which they transferred him to the active roster on December 17. Joe then spent the next year waiting for an opportunity to play, as the team had better players like Aaron Rodgers and Brett Hundley. He attended his first action in the NFL on December 31, 2017, in a game where he completed 5 of his 7 passes for 11 yards.
Nonetheless, he was waived again by the Packers on April 30, 2018, just enough time for the Philadelphia Eagles to sign him on May 7, 2018 on a two-year contract. We hope we have a successful NFL career as he struggles to find the time he needs to play on the court.
Height, weight, measurements
Joe Callahan towers over many others at 6ft 0(1.85m) with which he weighs 98kg (216lbs). His height and weight are just enough to allow him to perform his duties on the network against any team he is lined up against.
Callahan’s other measurements, such as his arm/bicep size, chest and height, have not been revealed at this time. When we have obtained them, we will not fail to inform you.
