Born and raised in Carmel-by-the-Sea, a city in Monterey County, California. Information about his parents, upbringing, and early education is quite scarce. However, we do know that he has an older brother. It is also known that he started his acting career in the early 90’s when he was still a teenager.

Ian Bohen made his acting debut in the short film Deliver (1993), playing the role of Jimmy Wakefield. His next film role was in the Oscar-nominated biopic Wyatt Earp (1994), after which he appeared in the horror film Monster Mash (1995). He also portrayed the titular character of the TV pilot Hercules Young (1998).

Bohen had a small role in the highly successful action film Pearl Harbor (2001) starring Ben Affleck, Josh Hartnett and Kate Beckinsale. He also had roles in the sci-fi comedy Special (2006) as well as the musical comedy Marigold (2007). The talented actor then appeared in the thriller film Irreversi (2010), the English version of the Mandarin language film Hui Lu.
