A year after they gave birth to him,parents went back to England. There they first settled in Bedford and after a while moved to Brighton. The family later lived in the Australian cities of Melbourne and Sydney and also spent a short time in Johannesburg, South Africa before returning to England. In England, Hugo Weaving attended Downs School in a village called Wraxall. Eventually, his entire family moved to Australia in 1976, where he attended the renowned National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), from which he graduated in 1981.
