His mother, Anne, was a school teacher and later worked as a tour guide, while his father, Wallace Weaving, worked as a researcher in the field of seismology. He has two siblings, a sister – Anna Jane Weaving and a brother named Simon Weaving.
A year after they gave birth to him,parents went back to England. There they first settled in Bedford and after a while moved to Brighton. The family later lived in the Australian cities of Melbourne and Sydney and also spent a short time in Johannesburg, South Africa before returning to England. In England, Hugo Weaving attended Downs School in a village called Wraxall.
