George Hamilton’s bio

Hamilton’s story begins in Memphis, Tennessee, where he was born on August 12, 1939 to his parents, George “Spike” Hamilton and Ann Stevens. While nothing is known about his mother, his father George was the frontman of a popular band based in Los Angeles at the Biltmore Hotel. He was also an actor in the 30’s and a perfumer.

George spent his growing years in Blytheville, Arkansas. By this time his father had remarried to a woman named June Howard. George would reveal in his later years that he had an affair with his stepmother when he was just 12 years old. Hamilton completed his high school education at Hackley School in 1957 after living in many states and attending several high schools because of his father’s work.

With nothing but hopes and dreams, GeorgeHamilton packed up and moved to Los Angeles in the late 1950s to pursue an acting career. Like many before him, he began making guest appearances on a number of television shows. These included The Donna Reed Show and The Adventures of Rin Tin He also appeared in the 1959 feature film Crime & Punishment USA , a film for which he won a Golden Globe award for Best Promising Actor. His involvement in the film led to him being signed to a long-term contract with then-film giant Metro Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM).

In the 1960’s George was a busy man with his career shooting films in the US and several countries in Europe. These included films such as Where the Boys Are (1960); Obsessed with Love (1961); That Man George (1965); A Time to Kill (1967); and The Force (1968). By the late ’60s he had appeared in over 20 projects. He had also worked with the likes of Vanessa Redgrave, Natalie Wood, Glenn Ford and Robert Wagner.

In the late ’60s and ’70s, George Hamilton’s strong start to his career began to trickle away. He acted in only a few films and television projects with The Survivors (1969 – 1970); The Last of the Powerseekers (1973); The Dead Don’t Die (1975); Evel Knievel (1971); and Medusa (1973). He rounded out the 1970s with his biggest commercial success to date, Love at First Bite (1979). This was his third project as a producer after Evel Knievel and Meduse He then produced another film Zorro, the gay blade(1981). While relatively successful, it didn’t live up to the standards Love at First Bite had set.

In the 1980s he devoted himself almost exclusively to television. Hamilton has been in a number of television appearances including Malibu (1983), Dynasty (1985 – 1986), Two Fathers’ Justice (1985), Spies (1987), Monte Carlo (1986) , and Poker Alice (1987).

He began the ’90s with another opportunity to revitalize his career when he appeared as Don Corleone’s family attorney in the third installment of the Godfather franchise. The Godfather Part III. Again, however, his subsequent works fell short of the family and crime drama hype. He was in Once Upon a Crime (1992), Disappeared (1995), 8 Heads in a Holdall (1997), Casper Meets Wendy (1998) and She’s Too Big (1999).

After the turn of the millennium, the veteran actor racked up three more production credits: My Life (2009), The Last Resort (2011) and To Be Evel (2015). He was on TV in A Very Cool Christmas (2004); Holiday Road Trip (2013); American Housewife (2017 – 2018); General Hospital (2018).

George Hamilton also hosted the ABC television series The Family in 2003 and was a competitor on Dancing With the Stars in 1999, and in 2009 received his own star on Palm Springs, California’s Walk of Stars and the Hollywood Walk of Fame, respectively.

What is his net worth?

Comparing the trajectory of his career, one could say of his contemporaries that the veteran actor’s time on the big screen has not gone as one might have hoped. However, the actor isn’t bothered by it as he chose that path for himself and chose to be in more social films as box office hits.

Still, with his 120+ projects in television and movies, his litany of commercial appearances, his skincare businesses, and his chain of tanning salons, he has no reason to complain. His net worth is estimated to be around $25 million.

Why does he look so tan?

If there really is such a thing as sun worship, the perpetually tanned actor should be the emissary of the sun gods. Shortly after moving to Florida after his time at Hackley School, he became addicted to the tan look. Before the tan, he described himself as joking at parties and social events as no girls wanted to talk to him. At the first party he attended after getting a tan on the beach, three girls got hit on him. He took no chances of losing his tan after this experience.

The veteran actor is now known more for his bronzed complexion than his acting and has been on many interviews to discuss his tan. George Hamilton has revealed in many of these interviews that his permanent tan doesn’t come from a spray tan bottle. He prefers the natural route and spends at least 15 minutes in the sun every day. He believes that spray tanning can be linked to various skin conditions.

George Hamilton’s family: ex-wife and children

The actor, who has a thing for high-profile women, revealed during his show I’m a Celebrity that he’d been in a relationship with at least four Miss Worlds. In the 60s he had a very good relationship. At the time, he was dating then-President Lyndon B. Johnson’s daughter, Lynda Bird Johnson.

His marriage to his wife, Alana Stewart, in 1972, however, saw the union run out of breath three years later when she quit in 1975. In 1974 they had a son together who they named Ashley Hamilton. Ashley lives as a musician, comedian and actor.

George’s second child came almost two decades later in 1999. His name is George Thomas Hamilton. He is a result of his union with then-girlfriend Kimberly Blackford, with whom he dated from 1997-1999.
