Devin McCourty is an American professional football player best known as a free safety for the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL).

Devin McCourty was born on August 13, 1987, in Nyack, New York, and was raised alongside his twin brother, Jason McCourty, by his mother Phyllis Harrell when their father, Calvin McCourty, died when they were three years old.
With the help and support of their workers, Devin and his brother went to St. Joseph’s High School in Montvale, one of the best schools for boys in New Jersey. There, Devin took interest and developed his skills as an athlete. In high school, he played cornerback and free safety and was selected in every league in his final two seasons.
He also played basketball as a point guard. Thus, he was named in the selection of all leagues and is one of the few rookies classified as a two-star recruit by Rivals.com.
In high school, he scored 50 tackles, three interceptions and three blocked shots on special teams. Consequently, he was the first team All-Big East in 2009 at Rutgers before being selected 27th overall in the 2010 NFL Draft.
During his freshman year in college, Devin was redshirted, and he appeared in 13 games, making a total of 38 tackles and two interceptions. He also scored 25.4 yards on kickoff return and had a 98-yard kickoff return, the third longest in school history. With a career-high 80 tackles and 10 deflections, he was named to the All-Big East first team.
Devin McCourty began his professional NFL career in 2010 with the New England Patriots after signing a five-year contract with the team on July 28, 2010. The 2010 NFL Draft recorded a new achievement for him as he was selected by the New England Patriots in the first round, 27th overall. He was hailed as a first-team All-Pro by Sporting News and as a second-team All-Pro by The Associated Press.
In 2015, McCourty won Super Bowl XLIX with the Seattle Patriots over the Seahawks, 28-24.
