Clayton Kershaw is an American professional baseball player who plays as a pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers of Major League Baseball (MLB). Now a starting pitcher, Kershaw was selected by the Dodgers in the 2006 draft as one of the year’s hottest high school prospects.

Kershaw spent 2 seasons playing in the minor leagues before qualifying for the Dodgers’ active roster in 2008. Clayton Edward Kershaw was born on March 19, 1988 in Dallas, Texas. His parents Marianne (née Tombaugh) and Christopher George Kershaw divorced when he was 10 years old.

Young Kershaw had attended high school at Highland Park High School. As a young boy, he played for his school’s baseball team and also played in youth sports leagues. He was also a pitcher for the United States Junior National Baseball Team at the Pan Am Championship.

In 2006, Kershaw was considered one of the most promising high school pitchers. He was ultimately selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2006 draft. He began his career with the Gulf Coast League (GCL) Dodgers, where he maintained his rating as a top prospect for the Dodgers and GCL .

Kershaw played with the Culs des Grands Lacs in 2007. He was a member of the Mid-League All-Star Game as well as the All-Star Future Games. In August he joined the Southern League where he played with the Jacksonville Suns. He finished the 2007 season still ranked as one of the Dodgers’ top prospects.

Clayton Kershaw is married to Ellen Melson. The two men met at Highland Park High School in Dallas, Texas. Ellen continues her studies at Texas A&M, while Clayton is called up to play professional baseball for the LA Dodgers. However, the distance between them does not hinder their relationship.

The couple tied the knot on December 4, 2010, after 7 years of dating. The wedding ceremony took place at the Presbyterian Church in Highland Park, followed by a reception followed by a reception at the Royal Oaks Country Club, in Dallas, Texas.

Clayton Kershaw is a Christian and a member of the Methodist Church. In 2011, Kershaw and his wife Ellen embarked on a Christian mission under the auspices of Dallas-based Arise Africa. Kershaw has pledged to build an orphanage in the Zambian capital, Lusaka. The orphanage was completed in 2012 and is named “Hope’s Home”, after an 11-year-old child, Hope, whom Kershaw met while in Zambia.

The highly talented Dodgers pitcher continued to support the children of Zambia in conjunction with the Pennsylvania-based non-profit ‘CURE International’.

In 2013, Kershaw and his wife launched an annual charity ping pong tournament titled “Ping Pong 4 Purpose” to raise money for several worthy causes. The couple also collaborated on a book project called Arise: Live Your Faith and Dreams in the Field You Stand In. The book, released on January 10, 2012, tells the story of the couple’s life as Christians and humanitarians.

On January 23, 2015, the couple welcomed their first child, a daughter named Cali Ann. On November 19, 2016, they also welcomed their second child, a son named Charley Clayton.
