The versatile thespian began his life journey25. March 1976. He was born in Seoul, South Korea to Cha Jae-wan and Choi Su-min parents. His media affiliation can be traced back to his father, who worked as an assistant director for the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), while his entertainment gene may have come from his mother, who was also a voice actress and lent her voice to movie characters in the film industry. However, he’s not the only one to be drawn from parent to child as his brother, Cha Ji-Hyun, is currently a film producer.

His high school is not known, but he received three college degrees. The pursuit of a college degree was shaped by his desire to explore the entertainment and media world just like his parents. Cha Tae-Hyun received his first degree in broadcasting from the Seoul Institute of Arts. He has another degree in Multimedia Arts from Kyonggi University and third degree from Chung-Ang University where he studied mass communication. With these qualifications, Tae-Hyun was ready to take the industry by storm.

During his studies, he showed his acting skills by appearing in a few commercials and playing supporting roles in television shows. He also hinted at his prowess in media circles when he took second place in a talent contest organized by the Korean Broadcasting Service (KBS). This was in 1995 and Cha Tae-Hyun was 19 years old.

His acting career took a downturn thereafter, despite the fame he achieved through his performance in London , but it didn’t stop him from releasing a second studio album, The Book, in 2003’s Scandal Makers (2008). The film was a blockbuster hit and when the film received positive reviews, Tae-Hyun was named Top Male Celebrity of the Year by the South Korean advertising industry.
