Burzis Kanga – Biography
Burzis was born in America and therefore has an American nationality. Most sources say he is of Egyptian descent, while others say his roots originated in Tanzania in East Africa. Burzis did not reveal any details regarding his birthday, family background and media education. He managed to keep people guessing and only trying to guess his real age. Therefore, given his age and the known birthday of his ex-wife Hoda, born August 9, 1964, one could easily assume that he should have been born around this time or perhaps a little older than that. ‘so.
Since childhood, Burzis Kanga loved the game of tennis and grew up as an avid player of the game besides being a brilliant student during his studies. Between 1980 and 1983, he was a member of a private tennis team where he was an indispensable member of the team. He played with the team for four seasons, winning over 50 games with them. In 1984, he obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree and devoted more time to the professional practice of tennis. He has played on satellite tennis tours in Mexico, the United States and Europe, winning several laurels for his spectacular victories.
As Athletics Commissioner for the 1996 AAU, Burzis is credited with reviving the University Tennis Center during the Olympics. He served for a long time on the board of directors of the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation and made several contributions to the development of sports within the foundation.
He was one of the coaches at the University of New Orleans (UN) from 1986 to 1989 and again in 2003. Burzis was hired to lead Lakefront as head coach in 2008 and in his first season there , he achieved a remarkable mark of 81-9 as a senior and earned the title of the only member of the UN tennis team to receive All-American honors.
Burzis Kanga has been the head coach of the New Orleans Privateers for years and both men’s and women’s teams.
Burzis Kanga and Hoda Kotb met while attending a 2004 American Heart Association event on Valentine’s Day in New Orleans. Hoda is a media personality who hosts television shows and presents news for the NBC television channel.
They dated for a year before Burzis proposed to her in May 2005 and it led to their wedding in December 2005 in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The love between them only lasted two years, as Hoda filed for divorce on February 15, 2007, which was finally granted on February 6, 2008.
Hoda Kotb is now married to Joel Schiffman and they are both parents to a baby girl she adopted who had fertility issues caused by cancer before her divorce from wife Burzis Kanga.
Although she ended her marriage to Burzis, she says of him that she is a good person and that she was instrumental in the successes recorded during his career, because at the time he it was an item.
The reason for their divorce has since then remained an undisclosed secret as neither Burziz nor Hoda have made any revelations about it.
