Bruce Lee was a well-known Hong Kong and US actor, film director, philosopher, martial artist, martial arts teacher and founder of the martial art of Jeet Kune Do , a genre of kung fu. He is known as the man who brought kung fu to North America and one of the most influential martial artists of the 20th century Lee has appeared in numerous action films and even after his tragic death he continues to influence the martial arts world.
Bruce Lee – Bio
Born November 27, 1940 in Chinatown, SanFrancisco, he grew up with the other siblings in Kowloon, Hong Kong. His parents were from Hong Kong. His father, Lee Hoi-chuen, is Han Chinese and his mother, Grace Ho, is half Chinese and half Caucasian. Lee has four siblings, two brothers, Robert and Peter Lee, and two sisters, Phoebe and Agnes Lee. His birth name was Lee Jun-fan and the name “Bruce” was given to him by a nurse at the hospital of his birth. His family never used the name during his early years. The Lees soon moved back to Hong Kong in the early 40’s.
Lee started his acting career when he was only three years old. The family had ties to the theater as his father was a Cantonese opera star. Lee’s first appearance was in 1941’s Golden Gate Girl Beginning in 1946, Lee appeared in numerous films as a child actor and dabbled in other aspects such as poetry and dance.
During his teenage years, Lee was involved with a street gang. His father, to keep his boy from losing focus, arranged for Lee to begin martial arts training, learning gung fu in 1953 under the tutelage of Master Yip Man. In the early ’60s, Lee was back in the US, staying with family members in Seattle, Washington. He studied philosophy at the University of Washington and began teaching Wing Chun, a gung fu style he had learned in Hong Kong.
Lee has had a great deal of notoriety from his films including Fists of Fury , Return of the Dragon , The Green Hornet among others. Enter the Dragon was supposed to make him a Hollywood icon, but he gave up a month for its premiere. He died of cerebral edema on July 20, 1973 in Hong Kong and was buried in Lake View Cemetery.
Linda Lee Caldwell was Bruce Lee’s wife, she was born on March 21, 1945 in Everett, Washington. She met Lee while he was teaching gung fu in Cantonese to students at her college. In her early years her name was Linda Emery. They began dating in October 1961, and although at the time it seemed inappropriate for a white woman to marry an Asian man, the couple married on August 17, 1964. After Lee’s death in 1973, Linda has been remarried twice since but this done kept his surname in mind.

Brandon Bruce Lee is Bruce Lee’s first and only son. He was born on February 1, 1965 in Oakland, California. He was an American actor and martial artist. He started his acting career in 1985 with some movies like Crime Killer , Kung Fu: The Movie , Legacy of Rage among others. He was engaged to Lisa Hutton and the couple were scheduled to be married a week after filming began on his breakthrough film. the crow Brandon was accidentally shot on the film’s set and died a little later. He is buried next to his father in Lake View Cemetery in Seattle, Washington.
Shannon Emery Lee (born April 19, 1969) is an American actress, businesswoman, and martial artist. She made an acting career in films such as Enter the Eagles , Cage II , High Voltage among other projects. Shannon is President of the Bruce Lee Foundation, a foundation dedicated to helping those in need and communicating Bruce Lee’s philosophy. Shannon has been married to Ian Keasler since August 1994 and they have one daughter, Wren Keasler.
