A’Shawn Robinson was born and raised in FortWorth, Texas by his single mother; Abigail Robinson, March 21, 1995. His mother intended him to become an athlete and as soon as her son, who would have been taller than almost all his friends, turned 4, she enrolled him in an academy of soccer.

In his sophomore year, Robinson started 13 of the 14 games he played in. He finished the year with a career-high 49 tackles (16 solo) which earned him an honorable mention to the All-SEC team as his team captured the SEC championship. In his junior year, Robinson took his game to new heights as he was named a finalist for the Outland Trophy; an award given to the best offensive or defensive interior lineman in the nation. Although he did not receive the award, Robinson won his second SEC championship and was named a Sporting News, Associated Press, FWAA, and AFCA First-Team All-American. He finished the season with 46 tackles (18 solo), 3.5 sacks, two pass defenses and one fumble recovery while starting all 15 games of the season.

After recording a total of 133 tackles (49 solos), 22 tackles for loss, 19 quarterback hits, nine sacks, one forced fumble, one recovery fumble and five pass defenses, during his three years in the ‘Alabama, A’Shawn Robinson has decided to forgo his senior year to commit to the 2016 NFL Draft. He was selected by the Detroit Lions in the second round with the 46th overall pick. His first league game was against Indianapolis which he scored by recording a one pass defense. He then played in all 16 games, starting five, finishing the season with 30 tackles (22 solo), two sacks, six tackles for loss and seven pass defenses.
